Case study – Sinclair Computer Forms

The client’s challenge

Sinclair is a medium sized Canadian printing company that was seeking to expand from forms into full service digital printing.

Its clients were increasingly demanding short run jobs, variable data, barcodes, consecutive numbers and other added value services.

Choosing and installing a new solution

The company spent a number of years exploring the options and possible partners and ultimately selected Inkjet Solutions.

General Manager, Chris said: “We found Inkjet Solutions to be a very good product with extremely good support.”

“The installation took approximately one week from start to finish, with an operating system that was 100% integrated into an existing 35 year-old printing press. The 332mm monochrome inkjet system (i-Jet 600 Label) integrates completely and seamlessly into the existing print units and finishing system. We didn’t have to modify anything on the existing press.”

Exceeding expectations

The new system is very versatile and easy to operate.  It prints from PDF files using consecutive numbering and bar coding as required. Print resolution is of exceptional quality and consistency. The client is highly impressed by the system’s flexibility and ability to achieve higher run speeds of 500 feet per minute on certain jobs.

In addition, the ability to access the unit live online at any time avoids unnecessary down time.

Impressive results

Chris concludes: “It’s sometimes a scary step to jump into new technology, but I have no regrets about our decision to work with Inkjet Solutions. We are finding new markets and new opportunities on this equipment almost every week, and we save so much time it is unbelievable.

“We have run multiple jobs which we could not have contemplated doing before, because of the ability to change the repeat size almost infinitely.

“With a job that’s on the press right now, we have saved approximately 37,000 feet (almost 20%) in material – worth $3,000 – plus a week’s labour. And this is just one job.”
